Mean Girls analysis                                                                          Nosa Ighodaro

Costumes

In this Mean Girls scene all the actresses can be seen wearing pink this has connotations to them being very feminine and a typical “girly girl”, this also shows that they very much care about their appearances and how they are seen by everyone around them. Cady however does not match the dress code exactly; this later shows her becoming nervous and thinking she wont fit in because she did not dress the way the other girls dressed. The mothers costume connotes to her wanting to relate to her daughter and her friends by wearing the same type of clothes and colours as them which can also indicate that she wants to be younger.

Props

There are many props throughout this scene that have deep dives into the characters and how they are portrayed especially on the characters themselves. The most common prop shown on the cast are purses, handbags, and makeup; This connotes to them again being very feminine and that they very much care about their appearance and they will carry excessive amounts of items to make sure their appearance is kept to a specific standard such is their very girly stereotype. In the house however all the props are used to portray the wealthiness of the family such as the roman statue that is seen upon entering the house, this can be seen as quite an expensive object leasing the audience to think that this family is very rich.

Colours

The colours used in this scene are implemented to show the stereotypes of the characters. The main colour spread throughout this scene is pink which again is seen as a very feminine colour alluding to the main characters stereotypes. The colours of the interior and exterior of the house is all white which be wealthy among other things such as pure meaning the family think they are innocent which is almost the opposite of what they are.
